I tried to find an answer with no luck. I am getting a new laptop and will keep my old one which has avast. Both in the home with the same email I assume. How do I put Avast on the new one ? Do I take a new dnld and a new key ? Thank you
PS : computers are black voodoo to me
hello,
if you run avast 4 “home”, you should need a new key (although I’m not sure if one unique key for the home version can or cannot work on several computers, as long as they use the same IP…must be confirmed).
if you run avast 4 “pro”, you definitely need a license for a second computer.
You should download the latest avast version and save it to your old system and transfer it to new one using either USB stick or CD, etc. and install it off-line.
If you already have a Home registration key, then you can use the same Home versions registration key for the second new system if it too complies with the Home and non-commercial use requirement.
Download the latest version of avast http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again. Use that when you reinstall. Ensure that you scroll down and select the avast direct download link for the English version and not Cnet as that is for an on-line installation (not what you want to do). - Direct download for avast Home, English version, http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/setupeng.exe.
