Howdy,

Since my issue is sorta related, I’ll pass it on:

We had a mailbox opened on 2 clients running Outlook 2003 and 2007. It was getting every new message copied to the sync issues - conflicts folder. Exact replicas at first glance. As it turns out, there is mention of Avast in the header of the message. So every message would show up as “you made changes to this item. click here to see other versions, etc”. These were brand spankin’ new emails. Here’s what I tested along the way:

  1. one 2007 cached mode w/avast and one 2003 online profile w/ SAV 10.1 - still had issue
  2. one 2007 online w/avast and one 2003 online profile w/ SAV 10.1 - issue not happening
  3. two 2003 cached profiles with no avast - issue not happening
  4. one 2007 cached profile w/o avast, one 2003 cached profile w/o Avast - issue not happening
  5. one 2007 cached profile w/avast and one 2003 cached profile - still had issue

The test mailbox resides on an Exchange 2003 SP2 server, and the versions of Outlook are up to date. We do not use the IMF on the server side to filter and do not drop an SCL rating on a message at all. Nor do we use Outlook’s Junk folder feature.

So - it looks like Avast writes/tags/whatever a message as it’s written to the .ost file, and the other profile that doesn’t have Avast running downloads the same message and leaves it in the original state, and there comes the conflict.

Whew. It was painful but it looks like there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Pardon me if this has been found already.
