New firefox not allowed by Password protection module.

Hi, Firefox has released version 89 some major changes in UI. When I opened it for the first time, the password protection module showed an alert that firefox is trying to access login info in firefox. Refer attached screenshot for reference, hope you guys can whitelist the new version.

Just updated to FF 89.0 and I use the Firefox password manager (presumably what you are using) and I logged in to my amazon account without issue, no alert.

You can use the Allow APP button.

Hi ajey,

thank you for the report. It’d be fixed in the next update.

Yes I did allow it.

Thank you.

Hello PDI,

I am facing the same issue with Firefox ESR. Unfortunately it seems Firefox have considered the existing password manager files as corrupt now, and created new empty one instead.

I tried restoring the old password manager files from shadow copy with password protection disabled, however it seems those cannot be opened by Firefox either. Is there any way to restore the old password manager files, which were protected by password protection?

Hi Micahl256,

I’d normally stop all firefox instances and rename the old files to the new ones and the firefox should handle it on the startup but it’s long time when I tried this so it may be obsolete info.

PDI
