NEW HOME DOWNLOAD OROBLEMS

I HAVE JUST INSTALLED THE NEW HOME EDITION OF THE ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM. MY SYSTEM SEEMS TO BE WORKING SLOWER AND WHEN TRYING TO ACCESS MY OUTLOOK EXPRESS I GET THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE: The connection to the server has failed. Account: ‘mail.bellsouth.net’, Server: ‘127.0.0.1’, Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E.

I FOLLOWED THE FAQ INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE POP3 AND STMP BUT IT DID NOT CHANGE. ALSO, MY TYPING IS HESITATING IN THIS EMAIL.

I HAVE WINDOWS XP
I HAVE THE AVAST 4.1 HOME EDITION
THE VPS IS 0403-8 12.03.2004
I HAVE PENTIUM4 INTEL
I HAVE FAST ACCESS DSL AND FIREWALL ENABLED
I UNINSTALLED MY OLD ANTI VIRUS AND REBOOTED BEFORE INSTALLING AVAST
WHEN I TRY TO OPEN MY OE I GET THE MESSAGE

ALSO, I AM NOTICING THAT FOR INSTANCE IF I RIGHT CLICK ON MY ICONS THERE IS A GHOST LIKE IMAGE BEFORE THE FULL IMAGE APPEARS FOR INSTANCE ON MY AVAST I OR A OR MY MSN BUTTERFLY, ETC.

I EMAILED SUPPORT ABOUT 12 HRS AGO FROM MY MSN ADDRESS AND I HAVEN’T RECIEVED A REPLY, I DON’T KNOW IF IT WENT THROUGH.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Search this forum. There are already several threads that deal with the “cannot connect to server” problem.

if you cannot find what you need from searching, come on back and ask more questions…
I also had problems gettin OE set up correctly and know how frustrating it can be–but it can be done :slight_smile:
and I am not a computer expert as my friends here will readily say ;D

poodlepike, lets solve your problems one by one:

  1. For OE configuration, close it, open the Mail Protection Wizard and follow the screens. You will have your email accounts configurated automatically.

  2. Firewall problems? I need more information about it. Which firewall?

  3. Older antivirus uninstalled? Which one?
