New Homepage Design

Hi Avast!-Team!

I just wanted to tell you that i really like the new design of your homepage!

Don’t know if it already has its final stadium, but I can say that its looking pretty nice…

There are just some minor missing translations and small possibilities of correction in the design… (German homepage: http://www.avast.com/index_ger.html )
But probably its not finished yet…

It’s pretty good though i think they should really stretch it a bit. It looks like a toothpick stick in the middle of my screen and i only have 19 incher. Imagine how it would look on 22 or 24 inch widescreen display…

Also those tabs for different product groups should be below description and not on top of it. One slight wrong move and drop down menus above will overlap it making it hard to navigate properly. Maybe they should make a bit bigger tabs one above another on the left side where we see empty space now… That would look nice and would be away from above dropdown menus so they won’t interfer with each other.

Yes a much cleaner look.

I have a 20.1" TFT 1680x1050 and if I viewed it in full screen (which I don’t normally do) it looks real slim. This is made more strange when you consider the forums, if view in a high resolution at full screen it expands to fit, so perhaps the main site should do the same.

I think the tabs are fine as they sort of look like a row of browser tabs in firefox, etc.

Yes, the new page looks nice, “tabs” work well, but I agree that it could be stretched wider a litte. :slight_smile:

I like the New homepage design, its really sleek looking the old one was good but this one just has something about it that just brings your attention right to it :slight_smile:

I definitly agree, I very much like the new Home page, I think in can attract custumers as it looks very professional, Are the virus stats going to get included in the homepage as well ?

Is the addition of an RSS feed for the program\VPS update planned anytime soon ? It would make it easier for website owners to show some news about avast and could show the frequency of the updates to a much broader audience :slight_smile:

  1. the news (new version 4.8.1282 released…) is in english

  2. if you got to the description of the professional edition you see a picture of the home ed.

  3. if you view the submenu of products (hover) its looking a bit weird

  4. the homepage really looks a bit small on displays with high resolution (in my case 1680x1050) (but thats probably not so easy changeable…)

Also I noticed that since yersterday you added an RSS feed for the most recent virus description, does that imply that virus descriptions will be updated more often ? ( that would be nice)
One last thing, I think that it would improve the overall experience of users if the RSS feeds had names, because right now they are all labeled “RSS” so maybe come up with better titles ;D
I know that I often criticize things, but if I do consider that it’s for the success of avast and because I believe that criticism can be a good thing if used in a constructive way.
