: what’s the problem, this icon is just the mail scanner in avast 4 telling you that an incoming or outgoing mail is being scanned ;D if it doesn’t go away, it just means that your install is somehow broken and you should reinstall.
What Logos said.
I have seen it persist for a time in the event of an interrupted or slow mail connection.
If that is likely the case with you, it’s nothing to be worried about, unless it stays in the tray all the time.
It’s there all the time. I am using Avsat for quite some time but this is for time I am seeing it.
so you either have an issue with your email client, or avast config/install…
The icon staying active all the time could also mean that a spambot could be sending out spam email.
yeah, but I guess the OP would have mentioned the mails themselves, but I admit your idea about a spam mail attack is quite possible and could result in the icon staying permanently…
I have reinstalled avast, also did a boot scan but to no use :'(… any solution???
Please scan with Avast boot time scanner and try Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware.
i think he just said he already did
Yes but he don’t use a Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware.
Thank you !

Windows XP Service Pack 3 has been available for over a year and provides many Critical Updates plus performance improvements.
You need to start Internet Explorer then go to Tools then Windows Update and download all of the available updates.
Go to Control Panel then Automatic Updates then select Automatic (recommended) or at least Notify me but don’t automatically download or install them.
IE8 is more secure than IE6 and has a lot better performance:

Go to Secunia Online Software Inspector then run it to see what other applications are vulnerable:

Downloading key-generators is high risk not to mention any legal/moral issue involved.
D:\Setups\WinXp Updates\fres-xphck\windowsxp_keygen.exe (Trojan.Downloader).
Running on XP SP2 leaves you more vulnerable to attack.
A small image of the new icon may help.

yeah, I’d suggest you come back here after you’ve acquired a legit copy of Windows. That’s my position. Others might feel the need to go on helping you, it’s their choice.
