Only malware that I ever had on my system was/is when I place it on it myself to show people what can happen. 25 years malware free here with all my systems!

The only things I had after I joined the Avast webforum was one false positive in a-squared for RejZoR’s program. The next update the false positive was gone.
And I had one tracking cookie, but that was through playing streaming radio. Not a big thing really. So join this forum and it is no guarantee, but if you use your brain you will surf virus free. The Dutch credo for Avast: “Avast is een programma van stavast” or “With Avast you go steadfast”.

Antiviruses is evrywhare as viruses itself.
Online scanners(web+/java/activex), Offline, deep Integrated in OS, specialized, Realtime scanners, some of them requid to be installed even online scanners and some just run and use from that place where it was saved.
