Hi, I’ve asked this question a couple of times and replies seem to address reasons rather than what to do. Simple answer please. I’m running 2 OS - XP Pro/Vista Ulta. Just uninstalled avast from both will go into reason another time. Just reinstalled Avast home on the XP side, will use my original licence key. Before I reinstall to the Vista side do I use the same XP licence key? or request an new one???
OK now for my reasons, lol.
Avast scans where sending errors " unable to scan" for all programs. This also was even stranger When I initiated a manual scan it would open run thru the memory check and than disappear. Unable to find it running anywhere but if I closed Yahoo messenger it would reappear and run a scan. This is even stranger upon the fresh install on XP side when I initiated to download IE asked if I wanted to block yahoo.com??? was on c/net via IE7 so I have no Idea why the block warning came up but I blocked it anyway and proceed with download. boot scan came up clean with no error’s on new install.
By examining 1) the reason given by avast! for not being able to scan the files, 2) the location of the files, you can get an idea of what program they relate to. You may need to expand the column headings to see all the text.
Files that can’t be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned.
Every File ;D not 1 file was scanned either on manual or boot scan - all read error- unable to scan, thus the reason to reinstall. This has been going on for the past month or so since I got the update program to new anniversary version. Anyway, doesn’t matter now, I uninstalled and reinstalled ran a boot scan and no errors showing unable to scan, so everything scanned.
