bought avast this morning, my brother highly recommended it.
I run on windows 8, I cannot seem to find a way to open the license file to continue my installation because either I do not have a program to open this with and none of the apps in my store can be downloaded to open this file with. anyone know what program can I use to open this license file or where can I find my activation code? ( I did not see any in the emails they sent.) TIA!

In addition, You should have gotten the ‘License File’ as an attachment in the original email sent after purchase.
If Avast is installed, all I’ve ever done in 10 years is double click the attachment and Avast has applied it after I accept the license.
OR you can save that attachment to your Hard Drive (documents etc.) and then “Browse” from within the GUI to have the license applied
FWIW, I just updated my AIS subscription. The email I received did not contain an attached license file nor a link to download one. There is an activation code which when entered in the AvastUI | Your Subscription | Other Options | Insert activation code works fine.
I guess I’m thinking of my initial purchases of the different versions as opposed to renewing/updating subscription.
I assumed the OP had just purchased.
From what I understand then renewing doesn’t get a License File emailed??
All I know for sure is that 2 years ago when I first purchased AIS, there was a license.avastlic attached to the email message. On this first renewal, only the activation code was available. Both transactions were handled through Digital River. The initial purchase was via the Avast Store website, and the renewal was through the AvastUI.
