New Installation - target computer is rejecting the connection

I installed ADSM on a Win2000 Server SP4 with Rollup installed.
ADSM is still on DEMO Version. We plan to buy 50 lic. Standard Suite.

When I try to login to the ASM I get the following message:

“unable to connect as … or connection error”

on top of it there’s an other message:

“…, the target computer is rejecting the connection” (translation from German)

I installed the Console also on a WinXP Client and tried to login but got the same message.

Built-in MSDE is running and the SQL Connection with AMS Maint. Tool is working.

Any idea?

  1. Is the “avast Management Server” service running? (Administrative Tools → Services)
  2. Can you try installing the patch described in http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=11120.0 ??

There was no service called “avast Management Server”.

So I uninstalled avast! incl. MSDE and installed it again after reboot.

Still no such service.

Then I updated the installation as you suggested. (MDAC and JET).

After that complete uninstall and install of avast! again. And now the service is there and works fine… :stuck_out_tongue:

There was no service with that name?!?
That’s quite odd, I have to say…

And the setup process didn’t give you any errors? You probably don’t have the setup log anymore, right? (file \setup\setup.log).

Sorry, no logs.
Setup.log is gone with the complete uninstal. :-\
