New Jabber conference for avast users

There is a new user chat room for users who want to discuss their problems with avast in real time.
This chat room is NOT visited by avast staff on a regular basis and is therefore not a channel for discussing problems with avast support staff.
You can enter the chat room using your IM client which supports XMPP protocol.
For more information please see http://public.avast.com/chatroom

interesting thanks, I’ll pop in for sure

edit: I get a 404 not found for xmpp-chat.avast.com ???

edit: okay I’m in using another account

Which one would you recommend ? We have experienced problems with some jabber servers such as neko.im

All I can say is that jabber.org didn’t work but 0nl1ne.at does, it also offers more server features.

just an advice, for those not familiar with jabber, using Psi might be a good idea as it’s extremely simple to manage http://psi-im.org/

Cool! I use Pidgin 2.7.3 for IRC and XMPP

Thanks!

On the Logos advice, I use Psi
XMPP - really cool!

yeah it’s nice but the author hasn’t updated it for more than a year now ::slight_smile:

Since these servers are dead…the thread isn’t needed to be sticky any more…I suppose there are others that don’t need to be stickies any more either…

Maybe if some of the dead ones get cleared, there’ll be room for some replacements.

Sorry, we’ve changed server software and conferences were present under different service name (conference.avast.com instead of xmpp-chat.avast.com), now it should be fixed.

Is there anyone online on the Jabber servers or are they empty as usual ? I don’t have a jabber client installed atm but if there is anyone online, i will install Pidgin or something.

Link is not working :frowning:

I also have a problems and wanted to try this, but unfortunately, link is not working. Any suggestions?

I usually end up being in them, since pidgin connects when I start it (which is how I saw that the servers were different)…but from what I remember, they were usually empty.

I think, for a support option, they are too hard to join for the average user. I think there are probably better methods to provide a support option. (IRC springs to mind - even allows from within browser)

At the moment, with the server change, pidgin is not connecting.

oops yeah, that’s new, the link still worked a few days ago. They probably shut down the site… well the software hasn’t been updated for at least a year. Well there are so many other alternatives for jabber… Pidgin, Miranda, even Google Talk

good news, I hear Avast jabber servers are on again ;D

Yes, I read it.
But is anyone (still) there…??

I haven’t used the service in over a year.
no one is ever there. We have more avast! Evangelist on Skype then in the official chat room.
Now also have quite a few on Google+

I seriously doubt that people will rush ;D …

I somehow expected these answers. ;D
Thanks guys.
