New Kid on The Block? W32/Ladex.worm smss.exe/crss.exe

Hi, somehow i get infected by this worm, i can’t even close this programs in the task manager and the avast antivirus doesn’t recognize them!
The weird is that: highjackthis doesn’t show the programs but in the logfile they appear ???

What makes you think that you are infected? SMSS.exe andCsrss.exe are Windows Systemfiles.

So, it’s my paranoia?!! Hope so. I thougt that i was infected because when i was cleaning my task manager i found those tasks and when i shearch info of them and found sites like this (from symantec):
W32.Dalbug.Worm then copies itself as %windir%\System32\lmhsvc.exe, so that the worm is run each time that you restart the computer.

Once it is running, W32.Dalbug.Worm inserts and executes these files:

%windir%\Smss.exe
%windir%\Csrss.exe

I didn’t realize that those tasks where native of the system :-\

The difference is that the worm files would be in
%windir%\smss.exe - i.e. it would be C:\Windows\smss.exe in your case.

The real system files are located in
%sysdir%\smss.exe, i.e. exactly where you have them: C:\Windows\System32\smss.exe.
