new kind of PHISHING?

Hi Guys,

I would like to know the REASONS / CAUSES why I am being redirected to another website when I log on to an ONLINE BANKING website. The following are the details/observations from my experience:

  1. I knew that it is a phishing/not authentic website because it asks me for ADDITIONAL log-in details like my ATM CARD NO. and PIN NO. My online banking site only asks for USERNAME and PASSWORD.
  2. Both the phishing site and the original site uses the same URL.
  3. When I use a different Internet Service Provider, I am not being redirected to the phishing site.
I would really appreciate your help. Thank you!

If your bank only asks for user name and password, they have a severe security problem.
They should also make you use something like a “random reader”

Not possible. Two sites can’t use the same url. It may show in your browser as the same, but they will not be the same.

Very unlikely that a ISP redirects you to a phishing site. Can it be? Yes, if someone hacked their servers and changed DNS settings.
