A new Koobface variant has been detected spreading in the wild and has been analyzed by security researchers from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). The analysis revealed that illegal money schemes used by its creators include scareware distribution and click fraud via rogue affiliate advertising programs.

Thanks for the info. I have this virus (ok I admit I’m an idiot for clicking the fake flash upgrade). Resides in Windows / freddy62.exe with other files. Avast did not catch it … see also http://www.virusremovalguru.com/?p=3726. It redirects IE and Firefox browsers, but for some reason not Safari. I haven’t tried the removal yet, will post any success.
