Pup is win32 killapp-w in the c:\HP\Bin\process.exe which with a little surfing seems to be a constant FP but it will not allow me to repair and I do not know just what it removed and how important it was.
The repair error I get is 42060 and nothing I do seems to repair it, anyone help?
PUP = Potentially Unwanted Program - See http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid14_gci1066761,00.html. Not included in this definition are tools which can be used for good or evil, some have been legitimately installed for a specifically good purpose, but could have been unknowing installed for a malicious purpose. This detection falls under a tool that can be used for good or evil, kill applications/processes, in that location it is a legit too on an HP system.
Not all antivirus programs scan for PUPs and avast has it turned of by default (an exception being the boot-time scan). So if you get this you have been tweaking the avast settings without knowing what the impact might be.
Repair only works on a true virus infected file, which this isn’t.
