New Laptop!

VGN-AR190G.
#1 Nuke Norton at initial startup before it can thrash the machine!
#2 Run the NAV Removal Tool to get anything that may still be lingering.
#3 Manually cruise through machine deleting anything with NAV/Norton, or Symantec on it!
#4 Install avast!

Observation: Was running Kaspersky 6 on other machine and getting 8600kbps download via Comcast connection.
For some reason, I had disabled KAV and had forgotten to re-enable it(don’t ask!), fired up a download from dk.tv.
SMOKIN 3MB/sec(~3200KB/sec - 24000+kbps) download for 200+MB!
Re-enabled KAV(once I noticed it was disabled) and repeated same download… back to 8600kbps.

Tossed KAV!
Replaced KAV with avast.
repeated same download once again. Full On 3000+KB/sec!

I’m BAAAaaack! :o ;D

Welcome back…
I won’t ask any question (as you’ve asked so) ;D

I was downloading something I really shouldn’t have been, and KAV was being a pain so I turned it off.
No worries! I had a fresh image stored so I wasn’t too stressed if something “bad” happened.

Geez! The speed hit was a shocker though!
No telling how long I had all that horsepower being held back. :-
Avast lets me blast away! Keeps me safe while doing it too! 8)

How about a little hint?
