New Official Release?

Just been asked to update to 6.0.1000 on my non-beta machine.

Yes.

Just to be clear on this are you saying if you have 5.1.889 you will be updating to 6.0.1000? I have my program auto update turned off and noticed in the program the version number is in red which means there is an update available. I have the pro version avast. I want to be sure before I do the update. Thanks

Just updated (installed over 5.1.889).

No problems so far.

Thanks!

I just installed the RC version, time to update again. lol. Ahhhhhhh.

The default for program updates is manual, but yes, avast 6.0.1000 has been officially released:

Now running 6.0.1000

Do you still have the Alwil Software folder or has it changed it to Avast Software (as in a clean install of the 6.0 beta versions) ?

I do. No problems though…think it is just left as it is to prevent problems…

I updated from Avast 5.1 to the official v6 release on my XP system about ten minutes ago. I updated via the Avast GUI. I still have the Program Files\Alwil Software folder, Avast 6 installed into that folder.

Still alwil software - but I didn’t get two avast entries in control panel like I had with the beta on my XP machine after install-over 5.1.889.

Now updated.

Yes, it is but it throws out other things as the log/report file locations also reflect Alwil Software (not Avast). So I will do a clean install on this 5.1.899 XP Pro system, so they are essentially the same across both my systems.

It is going to be ugly in the forums for a while as we refer to various locations Avast/Alwil Software Avast\avast5.

Used AvastUI to update from v5.1.889. Install is still in C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5 on this WinXP Pro system.

At least they have resolved that problem, well not resolved it as essentially they have retained the original locations, were in the beta build they were trying to use the new locations I think.

Also the folder still says avast5, and winpatrol etc report it as still being avast5!

Just updated to avast! 6.0.1000. Everything is smooth and normal. Thanks, good work!

Yes, only if you didn’t do a clean install as on my win7 netbook WinPatrol shows just avast, but gives version as 6.0.0.

It did change, at least the folder where the shield logs are stored did. The folder in Program Files changed as well.

It will change as you did a clean install, it remains unchanged for those doing an update from the avastUI of the 5.1 versions.

upgrade is working fine here!!! updated components and than boot.found unstall tool on german forums
