Since this virus dates back to 2006 and exploited a flaw in Java, it may have (hopefully) been corrected this might not be a problem on a Windows 10 system.
However, that boot scan also showed emails infected with TruePad.exe, and therefore deleted.
I have no idea yet what TruePad.exe is. It doesn’t show up in searches at Norton, Symantec or Avast. I don’t even know what actions to take beyond a boot scan with Avast. But it was considered serious enough to do an unprompted quarantine.
I used the boot scan because Windows informed me Avast was turned off – and it wouldn’t let me turn it on manually, even after a reinstall.
My attempt to uninstall it produced a previously unseen “repair” option. That seemed to work, but a Smart Scan showed 2 new viruses, so I played it safe with a boot scan.
