New PC Install

Hello people.

I had a new PC today and I was told by my boy to try out Avast, so i registered for a free product key which i now have BUT every single time I try to install the program it runs for a while then comes up with an error

‘There was an error while completing the set up process’
tried looking in the setup.log file but its empty.

the red error box keeps saying

'reason 41227 (downloader system error)

Any help is appreciated

Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
Which version…?
OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
Other security related software installed…?
Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

Did you remove the factory installed a/v?
If you did, did you use the vendors removal tool?
