we will soon be releasing a new program update of avast. And as usual, we’re making it available for public testing a few days before the official release.
This is hopefully going to be a smooth service release, designed really just to fix some of the issues of the original v6.0.1000 build.
Here’s the list of the most important changes:
solved an incompatibility with ZoneAlarm (WinXP)
improved installation of the WebRep plugins (especially Firefox)
solved a crash condition in the avast sandbox
setup programs now smaller by ~20%
Community features and the Welcome screen can now be turned on/off directly from program settings
solved an incompatibility with Outpost firewall
solved a bug related to the AutoSandbox offer (WinXP)
gadget can now be removed by simply closing it
new setup icons
Download links: removed
You can either install from scratch, or over an existing installation of avast (any version).
Option for showing welcome message at boot time (Windows 7) is back.
Social networks messages and recommendation features are available into the Community settings.
Hello Vik.
Are is possible to make Avast to turn off Windows Defender (Windows Vista and Windows 7)when install it.They work together and i got to turn off … myself.MSE and Norton do that.
Thank you.
…p.s.Verry good job Avast for version 6…Bravo.
Yes Windows Defender work with all Antivirus but have the same Antispy modul…MSE and Norton turn it Off.
Windows Security Center says that they work together and 2 Antyspy modul can slowdown the PC
I’m currently at v6.0.1000 Free having updated via AvastGUI from 5.1.889 when V6 became available. All is working well, with the Avast install remaining in C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5. Would there be any advantage to a clean install so as to have the more generic install path so future Avast versions have less problems with it’s housekeeping?
avast! please pay attention to others glitchs/bugs i did find http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=72009.0. Its would be appreciate to view also the discussion of me and bri about the gadget. Seem like there no resize button on Vista is it normal ? Is that a feature of Windows 7 ?
just curious when turning off social networking features shouldnt the like button be removed also?? i was hoping that would be included with this option
edit you have to turn off BOTH social networking AND recc checkmarks then the like button goes away.
what else does the recc check mark affect? besides the like button??
