New Program Update Issues

It seems every time Avast comes out with a program update, I ( and I know others) have numerous issues. I am using Avast Internet Security. When ever I reboot or start my PC in the morning, it just keeps running and downloading “stuff” (for lack of a better term). I noticed when I checked my real-time shields that I it had scanned over 4000 network connections!!! What??
When I checked the Firewall, network applications…I wondered where did all this stuff come from (programs). Also, at any given time I have at least 3 programs/networks listening through my AvastUI connection.
Now if you can made heads or tails of this craziness… I could use some help. :-
I’ve run scans. A boot time scan, a complete scan, did a Malwarebytes and Ccleaner. Nothing is helping and I’m getting more frustrated by the day. (since the update on 6/30)

U dont mention what actually it is downloading??

is it updates??

please try re-installing avast…

uninstall using this utility: www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

then download and re-install from here: www.avast.com

I wish I knew what it is downloading— it said after the engine update that I had 21 Microsoft Updates…was having issues with that, but solved that and thought it was fixed. Honestly I do not know what it’s downloading…

Thanks for the reply…guess I should do what you suggested and uninstall and do a clean install. :smiley:

Microsoft windows updates have nothing to do with avast! ::slight_smile:

so probably whats downloading is windows updates that is done by windows and not by avast!

u must update your windows to avoid problems and keeping safe

You may want to download Secunia Software Inspector PSI to make sure your other software is up to date https://secunia.com/. It gives you the direct link to update it easier.

Thank you so much. All of my Windows Updates were completed. I did a clean install last night and today it was working perfectly fine. At least for about 5 hours…then Avast stops responding! Not sure what’s up. I have so much more security than my grown children, they think I am paranoid. But, that’s not it. This PC is my lifeline to the world.
I will download Secunia. TY again and have a very nice day

Please list, what is installed security wise. It may be too much.
