New Registration doesn't seem to "take"

I have had avast! for several years and updated registration whenever asked.
I got the red box this morning, followed instructions.
Then got new license key number, loaded it according to instructions, was told action was successful, but the number on “About avast!” did not change. It is still the old one.
Repeated process twice with same results.
Ideas?

Whilst the number may appear the same as not all of it shows in the about avast window.

The major point is did the update expiry date change to 14 months in the future and more importantly did the Red pop-up box appear after restarting avast ?

What can also happen is if you ask for a key again and the existing one is valid (the one you got first time round) then it may well send you back the same key. If you either re-register using a different email address or when registering state you are a registered user and need a new registration key, or words to that effect; then that should result in a new different key being sent.

I found where it says “Updates expiration: Tuesday, February 01, 2011”
That box does not show the new number, but it looks like I’m good for a while.
