I know it’s early, but this is going to be my Christmas present to all of you avast! users, forum members, Alwil team and my great freinds !
Skin is still under construction, so please be patient. I’m very short with spare time these days, so finishing this baby, can take a while (few days)… I spent so much time creating my own icons for this skin, so that’s the main reason why everything goes pretty slow…
Skin Name: simple… SZC-KDE
I love you all !
P.S. Let’s dive into Linux KDE style for a change…
Comments are welcome…
Note: First screenshot is here just to show you how everything looks while sliding panels are not activated yet, and on second screenshot, you can see avast! in full action…
There is a mistake in wordings avast! antivirus. Letter “N” is missing on these screenshots, but Spyros warned me, and I changed it, so don’t worry people, final version is spelling errors free…
Hey looks good Sasha! Is there anyway to take the liquidy look, and color that you have in the icons at the bottom, and somehow use that same theme in the sliding panels? I love those icons you make!
Yes, it’s possible, but then, I think that skin would be too colorfull… maybe little too much… KDE is well know by it’s simple, sharp look and those silk colors. I don’t know, but I think that those icons at the bottom are kinda enough, just to “refresh” that blue color a little bit.
I’m still trying to make plain skins with bit of professional look, but in the same time, not to loose good “phat” design… if I put too much colors in skin, then I’m sure it will loose it’s form… Linux is pretty simple designed to be true, and that’s why people like it so much… I tried to make main screen to look like terminal, and bottom part of the skin, something like Linux taskbar…
Hehe, I’m glad you guys and girls like it… best of all (this is update), skin is almost finished, all that’s left is just some small cosmetic improvements (when I finish something, I always find something that doesn’t look exactly as I had in my mind when I came up with idea…) and inevitable performing of 1000 and more testings… :-\
Skin will be out very soon. I’ll keep you updated !
Cheers !
P.S. You can see on attached screenshot, that I also changed the look of dialog Windows that pops up on the screen (e.g. if you choose SETTINGS from the MENU…)
Also forgot to mention, that this skin will have nice plasma animation effect just like Bionic Skin, except in this case, it won’t be located on display area. See screeny, arrows are showing areas covered with nice smooth plasma anim effect. Unfortunatelly, this effect is available just for Windows 2000 (and later) users… don’t forget to enable TRANSLUCENT EFFECT in your avast!. Btw, even if your translucent effect is disabled in avast! you’ll still be able to see plasma animation on those 3 liitle sliding panels…
Cheers !
Edit: In my previous screenshot, iAVS icon wasn’t the final one that I’m going to release with this skin. See on this screenshot how it suppose to look…
Thanks Spyros ! I already changed it, it wasn’t to difficult 'cause wordings on skin are still in text mode (not bitmapped).
Problem fixed, any other visible issues ?
Cheers !
P.S. Silver version is great idea, but unfortunatelly, it would take so much additional space on the server (skin is already over 2 Mgs), so I’m not sure about this idea… anyway, lack of spare time is killing me, so I think I’ll have to pass on this one :-\
… Or even better, alwil could make a “skin builder” like lavasoft has made for Ad-aware. You just do the icons in PhotoShop or PaintShop Pro and all the rest is in the skin builder!
Oooooh, there is much more work to do in avast! skins than just making icons. I would need at least 10 pages of one thread to explain everything and include all those screenshots of what needs to be done in here. Who never tried this, doesn’t know how much work needs to be put into creating process of just one skin… everything needs to be created from the scratch, there is no template you can follow. That’s why every single skin is different and interesting in it’s own way. The fact that I can finish one skin in a day, doesn’t necessarily mean that skins are easy to make… it means, I am very fast and good in making skins, hehe ;D ok, ok, enough with jokes…
Creating just icons and put them in skin, wouldn’t look too good in all skins…
I’m not saying it’s too difficult to learn, but I’m saying there is a lot of work… a lot of work, believe me… every single peace that you see on the skin, needs to be created from the scratch… btw, SkinBuilder is already there, you guys just need to learn how to use it, and you can start making your own skins. I believe Martin already posted some notes on how to start with SkinBuilder, but I’m not quite sure… try Search engine in this forum.
