New Thread Old Topic

Since I got a message when I clicked to reply/ask a question regarding the DNSchanger trojan, recommending I start a new thread, here it is.

Mainly, I’m not asking if the whole DNSchanger situation is true or not. What I do want to know: Is Avast programmed to recognize (and quarantine if found) this actual trojan? I keep reading things about the reason why AV programs aren’t picking it up if it’s present is because they have not programmed the definitions from this into the scanner. Is this true with Avast?

Sorry if this has been brought up earlier, but I didn’t find anything about this (specific to Avast’s own scanner) in the previous posts on the subject.

Thank you.

The answer is : Yes.

Avast! is fully capable of protecting u against all old and new varient’s of this malware.

The thing is, if you got infected with this before Avast! was detecting it, it would have changed your DNS settings, and that is not something Avast! can fix, it can just remove the infection. So pay this site a visit to be double sure>>http://www.dcwg.org/

Thank you, both true indian and Gargamel360 for answering. I’ve had Avast for quite many years, and have kept up with scanning and updating the definitions and the program itself, so I feel safely assured that I have not been infected with this trojan.
