new to vast need help

Hey guys,

Im new to Avast i realised my computer was starting to slow down so i decided to run a test from Avast. now im not very high tech with computers i bascially learn as i go along. after doing a complete system scan i get this as a result

C:\System Volume Information…\ \Setup.cab
C:\System Volume Information…\ \Setup.cab
C:\System Volume Information…\ \data2.cab

These are the results i get after completing a scan using Avast on the right hand side it says Unable to scan This file is a Decompression bomb. now im guessing these are files that have been compressed and are quite small files but somehow they are expanding and sending files everywhere making my computer confused therefore thats why im slowing down. wow lol that sounded really strange sorry but thats just what im assuming is going on. can anyone fill me in on wats going on with my computer and how to delete these files

thanks for your time

They aren’t expanding anything, just that avast doesn’t want to open them op for scanning as they would be very large.

Decompression Bomb, a file that is highly compressed, which could be very large when decompressed. This used to be a tactic long ago to swamp the system, also see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=15389.msg131213#msg131213

The name really is the most dangerous thing about this and I wish they would change it or simply not report it, a real PITA.

Anyway, those files are in System Restore and should be of no harm.

Thanks for your all help

No problem, glad I could help.
