Im new to all this .i have 63 viruses in my virus chest.to empty the chest i have to delete,am i deleting the file altogether or is it just the virus.thanks
Yes, the virus is ‘into’ the infected file and is deleted with it from Chest.
When you send a file to Chest, all of it, file and virus, are ‘removed’ from the system.
If you need the file, scan it first into Chest, confirm it’s not infected and restore the file.
Don’t delete things from the Virus Chest too quickly.
Leave the file in the chest for a week or two (it can do no harm from there) to ensure no adverse effect from being moved to the chest. Then scan the file again in the chest to ensure it is still detected as infected and if so delete it from the chest.
Yes it deletes the file that is in the chest and not just the virus part, for the most part the complete file is the virus and must be deleted. If an infected file is detected and can be repaired, avast will give you that option at detection and if that is successful you won’t need to move it to the chest anyway.
