New update: No networking

After calling the phone line and I think overwhelming a poor customer support rep (sorry, he was awesome though), I’m turning here. The new update to avast stops all of my network drives, network applications (backburner), from working entirely.

I can’t find a rule in here that would block these, the current ones show 5 bars all connections, but they do not work. The firewall log shows… nothing. No blocked traffic, so… what is happening? It’s like it has windows networking entirely on block and I can’t find any entry to fix it anywhere.

Uninstalling the product fixes it. Installing the older version fixes it. Updating causes it to stop working. If I disable all shields, it still doesn’t work. But if I uninstall it, it does. I can’t find any reason for it, and I’m hoping someone here can help before I abandon ship, so to speak.

If I install the older version and just do virus definition updates, will they be ‘up to date’ or do I need the latest version of the app as well? I’ll stick with the old if that’s an option. I’m a bit frustrated and I apologize for that but hopefully we can find a solution.

Thanks,
AJ

I suggest you start with providing details.
Without them it is not possible to find a solution.

What OS/SP ?
What exact version of avast ?
Any other security (related software installed ? (or was there)
etc.

Sure.

When it was working:
Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit
Versions of Avast working: All for the past 3 years.
No other security software.

Details when not working:
Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit
Versions of Avast not working: latest (11.1.2241)
No other security software.

You could try the latest beta: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=15.0

Can’t hurt I guess, will do now. Thanks.

You’re welcome. Report back.

I am… a bit surprised that it totally DID work. I can’t thank you enough! I appreciate your time.
