Besides Avast Home, what other protection do I need? Does Avast block pop ups? Spyware? Please advise.

Also I forgot to ask - should I enable Windows Firewall? I had disabled the Firewall while I was using Norton. But I just got rid of Norton which is a huge relief.

Yes, by all means turn on windows firewall.

No problem, welcome to the forums.

The windows firewall is the absolute minimum but it provides no outbound protection, you should look for another stand alone (not suit) firewall. There are some mentioned in the above links, many in the forums are using Comodo but there are others.
