NEW VERSION: 1.48.2066.76

Hi all,

We’ve just released a new version of the Avast SafeZone (build number 1.48.2066.76).

What’s new?

  • Chromium updated to 48.0.2564.109
  • Temporarily Removed Shielded Window
  • Added Incognito window
  • Fixed missing descriptions on SafeZone Add-ons settings page
  • UI improvements

How to install?

  • Browser should be automatically updated to the latest version

I am still showing:

1.48.2066.44 - Avast SafeZone is up to date
Update stream: Stable
System: Windows 7 64-bit (WoW64)

Is there a way to update manually?

len7, It takes some time until all users get the update. I hope you will get it soon (today).

My browser won’t load. Restarted LPTP but still not working. Win 8.1 64B 8GB Ram

SafeZone automatically updated to version 1.48.2066.76. Good.

BUT:

  • PayMode still does not load
  • Multiple processes load in Task Manager when browser is opened and currently running
  • Multiple processes remain suspended after browser is closed (last version only; appears to be fixed latest version) Only fix was to log off user and log back on.

Issues still remaining for a feature which is a part of paid AIS. :frowning:

Well I am still on 1.48.2066.44

I have still not had this update, which I find a little strange. I am away for a week so I will have to follow this up when I get back, but I am a bit concerned whether or not the virus checker is getting updated with the latest virus definitions. Unlike other virus/malware checkers, there seems to be no option with Avast to ensure you have uploaded the latest definitions and program version - you have to rely on an automatic update. This is clearly not happening with the SafeZone program update in my case, so how do I know the rest of the updates are working?

I will post this issue in another section of the forum when I get back, but this lack of an automated SafeZone update taking place (in my case) has unsettled me a bit.

At least if there was a manual update option (for virus definitions and program updates) I could satisfy myself that I have the latest version and virus definitions.

Right click the Avast icon in the tray.

Ah - thanks for that, it still leaves me without the latest version of SafeZone, but at least I know I can update the Avast program and definitions.

You’re welcome.

See reply # 4.

Pay Mode now loads on first attempt but repeatedly fails on subsequent tries. This is reproducible.

See attached below for Task Manager process count before/after load of SafeZone Browser.

  • First attempt will result in all multiple instances of SafeZone Browser as terminated and Task Manager processes returning to original process count
  • Second, third, and so on, tries will fail and multiple instances of SafeZone Browser will remain as zombie processes. Unable to end multiple SafeZone zombie tasks in Task Manager

Workaround is to logoff and then logon as user to remove whatever process(es) are hanging after first use.

Running Win7 Home with Avast I’Net Security program 2253 but now without Paymode for 3 weeks, will not load. Nor will SZ update. Attempts to open SZ give, “New version available, instal ? Yes.” SZB opens, click on About, shows 2066.44 checking for updates. Then, 76 available, “Relaunch now” produces same message, "New version available … same result. Go into Tools, click on SZB Same message, same result. So, how to update SZB ? Please do not say it should update automatically, it doesn’t. If registry settings need modification, please give details but no Paymode is unacceptable for this paid version.

Two application instances run when only one application instance is called for. See attached below:

Second instance initializes in memory and then finalizes with memory in use as shown in snapshot. Also seeing a second browser on occasion where PayMode is still initializing when the first is completed.

My Avast Safezone Browser stopped launching sometime in February 2016.

Where can I get the update, if any

I have Avast Internet Security and have been using Safe Zone. However, my Safe Zone Pay Mode stopped working today. Instead of opening Pay Mode, I received the following message:
Pay Mode
Something went wrong while loading Pay Mode. To continue, try to load Pay Mode again.
Try it again
If you are seeing this frequently, try these suggestions

After retrying several times, I tried the “suggestions” link and was taken to a Help Page.
I selected:
What if Pay Mode does not load properly? The following message was displayed:
If you are having trouble loading Pay Mode, please update your Avast to the latest version and restart your PC.
To update Avast:

  1. Go to Settings (gear icon) and select Update from the side menu.
  2. Click Update in the Program section.
  3. When the update is complete, restart your PC.

I followed these directions and selected “Update” in the Program section.
I received the following result:
Already up to date (Current version 11.1.2253)

I guess I’m no longer going to be able to use Pay Mode. I wish the Avast people were a little more helpful.

Experiencing the same problems as others who have described here.

I have been getting the message about an update for the SafeZone browser for about 2- 3 weeks now. I still have Version: 1.48.2066.44 - And have the message next to it to: Restart Avast SafeZone to update to version 1.48.2066.95. This doesn’t work. I have tried numerous times. I have “repaired” the Avast program via the Add/Remove programs in the control panel and am still getting this message. Any smart people able to tell me what’s up? Thanks.
