Happy New Year!
New stable version 19.1.2360 has just been released to celebrate the new year 2019! This version brings a lot of new features including full 64-bit version, new settings and more…
What’s NEW:
Simplicity! We’ve simplified our settings screens and even added direct links from our feature screens to their settings
Search! We’ve added a search bar to our settings to make it easier to find what you need
Speed! Users of 64-bit Windows should now see faster PC startup and scan times
Automagic! After purchasing another Avast product from within your antivirus, the new product will now be installed and activated automatically — no activation code needed
Security! Our Firewall’s network detection is now better than ever
What we FIXED:
Firewall now runs properly (without a PC restart) for those who’ve upgraded from Avast Free Antivirus
Boot-time scan results can now be found in your scan history
Fixed improper arrangement in our Web Shield detection (threat type and URL were switched)
Your settings can now be backed up and restored again
How to install:
Update from your existing Avast version via Settings → Update → Update program
As a result of the new software update, loaded today, I am unable to launch the UI of Avast. When I click on Restart Service, a new screen pops up and is immediately replaced by the Restart Service screen. I have rebooted 5 times with the same result.
Using a Surface Book with Windows 10 Pro, version 1803., 64-bit.
Have another Win 10 desktop computer 64-bit which was able to successfully run Avast after install. Received the same error as above, but after rebooting 3 times it started correctly.
The install still want’s to install SecureLine as part of Avast even though I’m running the standalone version
of Secure line. I thought this was being addressed ???
After a couple more reboots, Avast came up successfully. Only additional action I performed prior to final reboot was to enable Windows Defender firewall for Domain, Private, and Public. Probably had no impact on the Avast result, but just wanted to pass that on.
Thanks for this new release Avast team! today after install and reboot , after opening the gui for the first time I got a blank screen…tried to open up and close a couple of times , same result. after another reboot it is normal again.
After updating to this new version (Avast! Free), I can no longer find any controls to set the scheduled scan date/time for a full scan. The Settings link under the Full Virus Scan (from Protection->Virus Scans) contains nothing about scheduling. There is also a clock icon under the Full Virus Scan panel, but it only shows when the scan will run - no controls for setting/changing it. This clock icon is not clickable - the scheduled scan time only appears in a pop-up which is also not clickable.
In previous versions, the scheduling controls were easily found and intuitive. Have these controls been hidden somewhere else or are they simply missing in this release? I think the scheduling settings have been missed and should have been part of the Settings menu tree.
This is just nonsense, a bug or avast bug almost unimportant.
In windows 7 64bits, before the threats a sound sounded. In fact it sounded so much in web detections, as when you did a scan and it was completed.
Well, now sounds no longer work.
I did the eicar test and it does not sound at all (and if the speakers are on, youtube sounds perfectly, and the avast sounds are activated).
Who else happens that avast no longer sounds. At least in my windows 7 do not sound neither threats nor full scans at all. And the sounds are activated in avast.
PS: This is in Avast Free 19.1.2360 (build 19.1.4142.0), with windows 7 professional 64bit.
The sound is silly but good, because the capture screens work well. And in fact for now everything works fine except for the sounds of Avast.
