New Version 19.3.2369 Won't Start

Avast updated my version last night, and since then it won’t start! I’ve uninstalled, downloaded it again and re-installed, but no good. My Avast screen shows a message saying “Well, this is embarrassing… We’ve run into a problem and need to restart your antivirus”. When I choose Restart it then says ‘Loading… this shouldn’t take long’. Then it just sits there. Ironic, innit?

I saw a message on one forum suggesting I set my Remote Desktop service to start automatically, which I have done, but no change.

This is Windows 10, BTW

I tried that - now when I reboot I get a screen saying that the UI failed to load. Under that it says that my protection is still running, but when I look at the Avast icon in the toolbar it says I am unprotected. When I click on that I’m back to where I started, The ‘Well this is embarrassing … restart’ screen.

you may try a complete removal, reboot and new install and reboot
