NEW Version: 19.5 (May 2019)

Good day…may i ask if anyone could point me to the older avast free installer ( the last version 18 if possible)?Lately i am having this problem with my online game named League of Legends using the latest version of Avast Free 19.5. Avast wont let the game to start properly, without any cybercapture prompt or virus warning at all and no malicious file is being detected.I already did the total exclusion of the Folder and Files related to the game,at first it will start normally but after reboot the same problem persist.I also tried to repair avast installation to no avail. The only walkaround for me is to totally disable Avast for the game to start normally.Already did full scan of my PC and its clean. 5 Personal PCs are experiencing this problem today.Thanks.

You can report a suspected FP (File/Website) here: https://www.avast.com/false-positive-file-form.php

^ Thanks i already did that though i am not quite sure what file to attach since there are no detections and the virus chest is empty.I only based my attachment to the error that the game throws. It is fine? I only attach the .exe and the stub.dll.

If you still really want to uninstall Avast v19 and then fresh install older Avast v18.8, that version is still made availble available for XP and Vista users from the Avast.com website.
If you go to the website then scroll down to bottom of compare products page you will see link for Vista and XP.
Or look at the links here

However, it may be best to seek a solution to your problem with v19.

Highly doubt the user is looking for a version that runs on XP.

@Bob. He was looking for V18. That version is still available on avast for WinXP/Vista, so that seemed a good start point if that is what the OP wanted.

Thanks for the reply and to the version 18 installer link.Tested the version 18 and sadly the problem still persist.I decided to wait for the developer to patch their game to prevent conflict with avast. Thanks again guys.

Ok. Thanks for the feedback.

Why there are two build numbers in the post? And why my 19.4 installation says it’s up to date and is not seeing 19.5?

Update manually using the link posted in the first post in this topic. (I would use the off-line installer)

  1. The version number and build number are an overall part of what make up the program version.
the actual program version is 19.5.2378 (build 19.5.4444.503). Not the way it is laid out in the first post.

  2. If it says that you have the latest version and you have version 19.4 it is an out of sync condition, what you have and what is reported. An Avast Repair often resolves this out of sync condition. However as Bob suggested you can install the latest version.

Personally I would try the avast repair first, saves downloading a 337MB file if it works.

Sorry: I turn on PC, and disable Avast (for example 10 minutes) and open the foobar very fast, Avast enabled, and the PC restart, open the Foobar is very slow. (it is not a great problem, but I thought I’d mention it.

Thanks your answer.

Earlier in this thread I reported a minor problem I had as follows: clicking on ‘Scan Now - Full Virus Scan’ resulted in the scan completing immediately and finding no problems. Obviously the scan had not actually run - to rectify the problem, clicking ‘Done’ and then ‘Scan Now - Full Virus Scan’ once more worked until the next time. Asyn suggested running ‘Menu’ > ‘Troubleshooting’ > ‘Repair App’ which resolved the problem until I tried my regular Friday full system scan today (Friday 14 June 2019). The problem had returned but this time, Asyn’s suggestion did not rectify the situation.

This is not a major issue for me as the workaround is quite straightforward but I wonder as to what is causing this to happen. Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks.

Individual problems are always best addressed if posted in their own topic. Things get lost in this lage topic very quickly.

Thanks Bob, I’ll start a new thread.

Just had Behaviour Shield off problem again, after not suffering for many months. Warning appeared on tray icon and UI. Switched it back on via UI. Hope it is a one off.
(Avast free 19.5.2378 (build 19.5.4444.503), Win10 1809.)

Did anything else change just before this happened? Windows update?

@Bob. No update was installed, but now have a notice that 1903 is ready. Must admit processor fan was running hard at the time.
I will put it down as a one off for now. Just wondered if there was another spate of badly behaved Behavior Shield. I will post if happens again.

Which means that stuff was running in the background. See my recommendations on upgrading to 1903.
