Good news everyone!
New AV version 19.6.2383 has just been released.
What’s NEW:
A smarter Smart Scan - We’ve redesigned our Smart Scan to be better than ever, and you can now even schedule it
Improved performance - We’ve reduced the amount of disk and CPU usage our antivirus needs
Improved stability - We’ve unified some headers across the app for greater stability
A cleaner goodbye - If you ever uninstall us (gasp!), we now do a better job of removing all our files
Bug stomping - Sensitive Data Shield scans no longer finish prematurely, and Mail Shield no longer blocks connections if it can’t connect to an IPv6 address
Game on! - We’re now more compatible with games that use anti-cheating measures (e.g., League of Legends)
How to install:
1. Update from your existing Avast version via Settings → Update → Update program
Edit: The ‘firewall network profile’ pop-up bug has been resolved here on my system.
Interestingly, the pop -up “did” return after 1st. reboot initiated by the install.
A “2nd.” reboot cleared the issue.
I have come to always reboot a ‘second’ time as it often clears up glitches.
I only started using Avast (premier) 10 days ago on a Windows 10 1903 laptop, but had noticed (and read in these forums about) the bug with the Firewall set new network profile problem (it is only ever connected to my home network), with that dialogue showing up after every re-start … and sometimes, but not always, after waking up from sleep. I was hoping the next update would fix it.
For me, it did open the dialogue after the re-start following the Avast update last night; but I’ve just done a second re-start, and this time no dialogue and the profile is still correctly set to private. So looking good.
I think I always remember to see only 3 services prior to 19.6. Now I am seeing 4, any particular reason? Please see attached. I am using Avast AV Free if it helps.
Yes, the Antivirus engine server aswEngSrv.exe is back after a trial (not everyone will have been involved in that) and withdrawal for further improvement.
