I’m not sure if it wasn’t present in 24.09, some have mentioned that this may be the case.
I find that statement talking about two different updaters likely to be totally confusing.
It is specifically the “Software Updater” optional Component (that updates 3rd party software), not Avast AV Program/Definitions updater that is misbehaving and being discussed here.

“Software Updater” is lately bundled as part of the “Cleanup” component, (not a separate listed component in its own right as once was)
The Cleanup compontent (that includes Software Updater) can be selected/deseleceted from Avast UI Menu using:
Settings>Troubleshooting>[ADD / MODIFY COMPONENTS].
This is completely unrelated to what people are talking about, Lukas. We’re talking about the Software Updater, both in this thread and the other big thread. No one mentioned Program updates.
Please fix this and provide updates along the way. The silence from Avast about this has been extremely concerning and disappointing.
Please then also fix this: For a week or so, the firewall asks everytime if icarus.exe can connect even an allowed rule is set
Seems to be a very recent development. Maybe related to the 24.10 update. icarus.exe runs from a different temp folder every time, making Windows firewall and other 3rd party firewalls ask what to do every time it runs.
Any update on this?
Today i got new install GUI update and new folder in common files “icarus” alongside with new scheduled task. Any info about it?
The Icarus file and scheduled task I’ve had since I updated, but the UI looks different with version 1.0.823.
What is the Icarus and why some computers have it and some not?

One computer have it and one not. I have tried click on program update button, but nothing changed.
I am unable to make vpsupd work with Avast 24.10. Double-clicking to run does nothing. Anybody else have this issue?
Having kinda the same issues. I have avast ultimate and now it says virusdefinitions are outdated but it won’t load… so I’m unprotected now… Weird that having automatic updates active while it says I didn’t update the 24.10 version…

I used the offline Avast24.10 installer. When selecting customized install, gone is the option to install in a different folder. I had to re-assign all my desktop icons and other pointers from my previous Avast24.9 install. Bring this option back!
Today I installed version 24.11 trough offline installer (clean installation).
Why it not contain Icarus installer? Version 24.10 got update.
Avast 24.11? Is that another monthly public release that has no Avast announcement here?
I thought 24.11 was still in Beta test.
I just updated Avast Free in a Virtual Machine and it installed version 24.11
icarus.exe nowhere to be found. For now anyway.

24.11 was already been released. Announcement about new version is now delayed few days, same as new betas without any changelog. Probably new version only fix bugs and create new bugs, which will be resolved in future releases and so on. So this is standard now.
