New Version: 80.0

Hello all

We have released a new beta version of Avast Secure Browser 80.0.

We need your help! It would be great if you can try the new version and provide your feedback. Also if you find any problems, please let us know. Thanks.


New feature:

Advanced Anti-Phishing detection

We’re doing more to protect you from scams, phishing and malware.
Now, any time you visit a page, we don’t just scan the URL in the address bar: we take it one step further and use our Anti-Phishing AI technology, which utilizes our leading threat intelligent network, to scan every single URL that’s loaded by that page — blocking scripts, iframes, trackers, and more to keep you even more secure.


Existing beta channel users will be updated automatically on background.

I can’t move on from version 79 (beta).

Updated from 79 to 80 via in Browser update function successfully.

Again, the bookmarks are not being installed. Can’t import from Chrome.
If I didn’t save the bookmarks to a file, I’d be out of luck.

I had the bookmarks in the older version. Allowed the update and after the reboot, no bookmarks or bookmarks bar.
Manually imported the bookmarks from a saved html file and my bookmarks and bar are back.

are you saying that you had bookmarks in Secure Browser 79.0 and after update to 80.0, the bookmarks disappeared?

For importing from Chrome, please let u know what’s Chrome version and if you are logged in to any account in Chrome. Also, is the Chrome 64bit app? You can check it on its About page. Thanks

Unfortunately, I still can’t reproduce this issue. I tried the same OS, same browser version…
This issue needs to be fixed, that’s why I am asking for your help again.
Could you please provide more information?

  1. How did you import bookmarks before the update (auto-import during installation, import from the settings, import from the file…)?
  2. Maybe you remember that you did some actions with the bookmarks
  3. When did you install the browser?
  4. Did you have Avast browser before?

Auto update during the installation. When the browser had no bookmarks or bookmarks bar, I tried importing from within the browsers
Import bookmarks and settings. That also did nothing.
The only thing that worked was restoring from a saved html file.

ASB has started ‘Freezing’ constantly with more then one Tab opened.
Didn’t notice any issue yesterday, just seemed to start today???

Edit: Did a clean install of ASB. See if that resolves the issue.

Edit: Have rebooted second time and the issue seems to have dissipated. Seems strange ???

Hello, please can you provide us more information on how the freezing looks? Can you record a video?
Can you send us Diagnostic Information from about page?
Can you please check task manager if there are enough resources? I mean it can be browser who use a lot of resources or something else… Or it may not be visible at all…

After latest beta update Bank Mode does not disengage when X’d out. Doesn’t revert back to the desktop, just hangs on Blue Screen. Have to shut down Laptop to clear the Blue Screen.

Thank you for reporting. Unfortunately, I am not able to replicate your problem.

Could you please share with us more information so we can investigate the issue?

We will need Diagnostic information (secure://settings/diagnosticInfo) and AV logs. Currently we are mainly interested in szb.log and AvastUI.log from C:\ProgramData\Avast Software\Avast\log but it would be nice if you could share us all the logs from this directory.
