Hi Martin, can you post a bit more about the new Ransomware Shield, I mean, the technology or protection behind it? We need more info to publish about it. Thanks.
Updated. Works okay for now. Please note that i have a custom installation of Avast modules and the only listed module in Privacy for me is Data Shredder. However, it still shows the “new” mark. There is no way to select the new module that it seems you have added so that “new” mark will disappear. You might want to rethink this.

Yes I noticed that too. It’s also not available with Avast! Internet Security as well, thought I’d point that out in case someone wanted to post about it.
A good stable release. I haven’t come across any issues so far.
Well done Avast team.
The Privacy tab shows “new” while Data Shredder is not actually an installed component. There is no way to remove the “new” mark from Privacy which is a slight annoyance.
By the way where are the options to select which security components will be taken into account when determining the security status? I select all components so I can receive the yellow triangle when there is an update, and also sometimes the behavior shield fails to start on startup and that’s when I notice the yellow triangle and turn it on. Now I can’t see these settings => I’m not sure if it takes into account the behavior shield (in previous versions it didn’t so I had to set it up manually) => I can’t see when there is an update or if the shield continues to have these issues in that new version.

Status monitoring has been been removed. It is now manageable from the Notification Center where you can “ignore” a shield.
So by default it takes into account all 4 shields, incl. the behavior one and program updates and virus definitions also? In previous versions it strangely didn’t take into account the program version and the behavior shield.
Testing the new version. Very fast and stable so far. Thank you for the improvements in the GUI. I’m specially glad that those big, awful white squares in the Protection-Antivirus module are gone!!! Welcome to these new nice gray squares. A little change can make a big difference. Well done!
Concerning the GUI, everything would be perfect if it were possible to reduce the size of the main window.
I’ll keep testing the new version, but until now, I’m very glad for the changes. Good work!
Thanks for update. Stable and smooth.
Avast backup schedule is gone. Also “C:\Program Files\Common Files\AV\avast! Antivirus\backup.exe” is gone.
Testing files inside virus chest still not working.
On one of my PC AvastUI.exe constantly eat about 25% CPU in idle, no GUI opened. (Win 7 64bit). - only sometimes…
Sometimes behavior shield not start and must be started from GUI.
Still problem with popups randomly opening during tests.
If warnings have been added to the Notification centre, surely that would also show a count.
Given the size if the avast tray icon and if animation is enabled, is adding another element going to make this a mess. Many people have already complained about the avast blob (tray icon), it doesn’t animate well at present without any addition.
How is this going to be presented ?
I ask this as I have yet to update my three systems as I wait on other user responses.
Unless this is going to be presented only when the user hovers over the tray icon or as a popup, in the same way as now:
“Avast Free
You are protected”
