I’ve just updated my avast free to 10.2.2214 and it messed everything.Blocks even avast web site, everything google…god knows what else.I’ve never had that issue but red that happened to others.Someone wrote that disabling https scanning solves the problem. It seems that does but is it really a solution?!How many others have this problem? Will avast staff do something to solve this problem, some update, patch…whatever?
P.S. Only Avast installed on fresh OS Win 7 x64 sp1.Firefox, Chrome, IE…no mail client.Plus Malwarebytes anti malware.Nothing changed in the system from this morning except i thought it was a good idea to update not just virus base but the program itself.Mistake.
P.P.S. The funny thing is that I can’t even roll back by installing previous version.Every link is sending the latest and i don’t have (backup) file I installed couple months back.Another mistake. (Is there anywhere to download version before the current?!) It seems that the latest is not always the greatest.
I updated to this NEW version and afterward couldn’t connect to internet. It said, “Local Area Connection doesn’t have a valid IP configuration”. Internet was working fine prior to update. That being the case, I restore my system back to the point before update and internet is working fine again. I will update Avast when you get this issue resolved.
OK having now updated my - Acer Aspire One netbook, Win7 Starter (32bit) 10.1", 1024X600 screen, 2GB DDR3 RAM, Intel Atom N255 (1.5GHz dual core) CPU. to 2015.10.2.2214. It also has only a 250GB HDD not SSD.
I have a question on NG system requirements - when I saw NG trying to get started (my firewall jumped on it), I thought what the h3ll. I even disabled MBAM Premium’s resident protection as it has an adverse resource impact.
My system specs are pathetic if I do say so myself an Intel Atom N255 (1.5GHz dual core) processor and 2GB DDR3 RAM, this is so under powered it couldn’t pull the skin of a rice pudding. And that is before NG would try to shoehorn its way into my system.
Watching paint dry would be marginally quicker and avast thinks it is powerful enough to run NG (or whatever it is now called). Someone has to review the system spec to even consider installing NG. Dual Core Intel Atoms are being used in tablets and phones and my Intel Atom is three years old for gods sake.
What’s the difference between online installer and full installer? I went to Avast website to download avast and it took me to download.com showing the online installer 5.22 MB.
English is my second language. For the past years, since avast 7 - the current version of my installed avast I download avast free via download.com and the file size is small 5.22 MB (online installer). When I download that it downloads the vps updates and etc stuffs and installs etc stuffs and the main program. After that it does a quick start up scan and when it finishes i restart my laptop and register my copy of avast free.
So for the stub installer does it downloads the whole stuff or what? To be honest, this is the 1st time I am hearing about full and stub installer. Sorry about that. Explanation will be much helpful.
Thanks. Much appreciated :). Just to be on the safe side and do right 1st time I will be doing a clean install and install this new version, because of the program update version change. Will report back things after that.
This should be resolved by doing an update for VPS and closing and restarting your GUI. Try doing a clean install. Remove your current one via add/remove and follow instructions. Run the avast uninstall utility in safe mode. Install a fresh new copy of avast once installed it will do a quick start up scan. Once that is finished. Restart your computer manually and register your copy of avast.
