Thanks very much Ylap this is great news however I draw your attention to
UPDATES << section in the General forum if we all use this section it will
remain centralized a one stop look and update ;D
Again thanks for the info
I’ll have it in mind. And I’ll post about updates there. Just a little missunderstanding this time. ;D
Ylap no problem at all mate just downloaded and installed the update
Fixed in Firefox 1.0.4
Privilege escalation via non-DOM property overrides
“Wrapped” javascript: urls bypass security checks
Code execution via javascript: IconURL
How many of Firefox’s 50 Zillion downloads are in fact the same people downloading it again every time there’s an update because the update facility doesn’t work?
I think that there are 50 million people, who downloads updated version every time! ;D Because the love their little foxes as I do! ;D
It worked for me… not a problem at all
I use firefox, and mozilla. Whenever firefox has come out very quickly I might add with a updated version, I have been able to go to that URL, download without any problems or glitches.
I didnt go to the url… I had the little orange globe thingy in my Firefox… clicked on it… it checked for updates and did the 1.04 software update for me without having to go to the url and download it.
The first time it didnt work… but it was my fault and stupidity lol I forgot I was on without admin rights so I closed firefox and loaded it up with rights and it worked very well
Yes, I can imagine that you were wondering at first what was going on with the download when you couldn’t get to it. I personally use my pc with Admin rights. That way I can keep system restore turned off where I couldn’t with the limited user choice.
Neal… Im using “Drop My Rights” for my firefox and thunderbird. That way Im not using rights when Im surfing…
I download Firefox everytime for one, because the update didn’t work for me. At least it installs cleanly over the old version now, without the problems there used to be.
Hi Ylap and thanks 8)
Update your foxes and surf with fire! Grin New update is available!Just what I'm doing now ;D
Wonderful, can’t wait to download them.
Hi Ylap,
Thank you for the notification. I had to wait for the Dutch version that is just out. Also tried the tweak program for Firefox. fine when you are on DSL or cable. But you have to save your old settings first. Some people here in the Netherlands also use Opera (it is a good and safe browser, but I am an anti-adware man, so I do not like the free version of it). Because of my nick I also use the polish version of Firefox (to jest super po prostu).
All the best from me here (pa,pa),
POLONUS
I don’t know if I am right but when I updated FF using dialup the update occured no worries
I then had a look on my desktop and discovered the file from the update that is FF 1.0.4 4.6meg
had been downloaded anyone else find this
Now, it’s even better as the user does not have to uninstall the previous version like before, losing the configurations 8)
Just one thing to watch - if you don’t clean up, you’ll now have both 1.0.3 and 1.0.4 showing in the add-remove list. Wish Mozilla would get their act together and fix that part of their otherwise neat install-over.
Use a utility like JV-16 or TweakUI to simply remove 1.0.3 from the add-remove list (remove, don’t uninstall) – or if you know where to find it in the registry, do it manually.
I’ve checked personally this before posting… I did not have 1.0.3 there, only 1.0.4 :
So, I’ve posted they ‘correct’ this updating procedure. Maybe I’m the only lucky one :
Same here Technical… Only have 1.04 and I did use Firefox’s updater… didnt download the program. (Although after doing so did wind up with the 1.04 install file on my desktop) Fine with me… I copied it to my other system thru our home network and updated that one while I was at it.
Husband called this morning though… he got the little popup notice that Firefox had updates last nite so he clicked on it. He said it ran fine… said the update was complete. However this morn when he tried to open Firefox it keeps telling him he cannot do so as it (the installation process) is being used. When he gets to his next destination and in front of the system again Ill walk him thru getting it straight.
