I am currently running Avast 4.7 Home edition. For the last 5 or 6 weeks whenever I log on I’ve been getting little green squares poping up bottom right of the screen telling me that a new version is available and to Click Here to get it. Since these squares have been popping up I’ve not received the blue squares telling me that my virus database has been updated. But when I do click here the green square goes away and nothing else happens.
What should I be doing? Are my version or my database now out of date?
The little green square as you call it are usually an indication that you don’t have the auto update set to Auto for VPS Updates but to ‘Ask’ having asked you click the green square and it will do the update in which case you won’t get told an update has occurred because you initiated it.
Check the Program Setting, Update (Basic) and check the option set for Auto or Ask.
Many thanks to you, that little green screen has been so aggravating! I thought my Avast was set for Auto updates, I’ll have to see how the settings got changed.
