It is called Zotob and Avast detects it already.
It was added to the vps on 15 august.

Zotob?!?!!?

What kind of moronic name is that?

It sounds like a name to some new-fangled pharmaceutical drug. As in, “could I please have a couple of Zotobs, because my stomach hurts… I think it was that half-cooked cheeseburger I ate.”

It’s a Mytob based thats why it has Zotob in the name. ESET for example marked it just as another variant of Mytob. They didn’t use the Zotob name.

These names crack me up! ;D

Hi Starfighter,

But it demonstrates how quick malcreants are after holes, as more and more patches appear for a certain vulnerability and there are publications, they get a general idea about where the original hole lies, and with the existing vulnerability window through a lot of not fully patched or unpatched machines the result is bingo, guaranteed success. So the credo is: update, update, update software, get the latest patches and the latest versions of critical programs on your comp. “Carpe Cerebrum tuum” that means “Use your brain”, don’t click on things as it appears on your screen.
