I’m not for sure what to do, so heres my dilema I purchased Avast pro 7 today, i recieved my email and then proceeded to get an error ( which is attached) and now i can’t download, or do anything avast without it freezing now i spoke to the avast people today, and they said that they would have to, remotely connect to my computer, and install a program, ( that they have) and they would be able to fix it. ( i didn’t feel comfortable with doing that btw!) Any help is greatly appreciated

did you uninstall it before installing avast?
have you run the vendors removal tool to clear any leftover files that may conflict?

Yes the link Pondus provided you has removal tools for most anti-viruses, please run the neccessary tools first before re-installing avast, remember to download and save the version of avast you require first before removing your current copy.

I already have it downloaded. I can’t delete though my current version, and i know from previous programs it’ll say, you already have the current version etc etc.

You need to download and execute the uninstall utility for Norton. Because there are some leftovers. Don’t forget to restart your PC after that.

I deleted norton months ago. I just basically want my avast to work. I have two months til my version is over

Then install your downloaded avast installation file in normal mode.

The fact is you did have Norton so there will be leftovers that are probably conflicting with your avast starting up, please run the Norton removal tool http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/ then reboot your system.
The latest avast can be downloaded and saved from here http://www.avast.com/en-us/download-software then download the avast removal tool and save http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility reboot into safe mode ( tap f8 while starting the system ) and run the avast removal tool that you saved for all versions of avast ever installed, once completed reboot your system back to normal and install the saved copy of avast.
