I have the free home edition 4.7. and have 3 infected files in the chest; 2 Win32gen {VC} and 1 PurityScanAB [Trj]. They have been there a couple of weeks. is it cool to simply delete them now? thanks
There is no rush to delete anything from the chest, a protected area where it can do no harm. Anything that you send to the chest you should leave there for a few weeks. If after that time you have suffered no adverse effects from moving these to the chest, scan them again (inside the chest) and if they are still detected as viruses, delete them.
I have serious reservations about simply "Deleting" the Purity Scan "trojan";
just finished reading a long thread on the "Spyware Beware" forums that
including the use of several programs to adequately deal with the multiple
forms of "it" . You may have other, serious malware that has NOT been
detected by Avast ; hopefully, you have been using 2 or more antiTROJAN/
antiSPYWARE programs, such as AVG Antispyware from www.ewido.net and/or
the FREE version of SUPERantispyware from www.superantispyware.com .
IF you are interested in having an experienced, trained, volunteer Malware
Expert check your computer, I recommend those "Spyware Beware" Forums,
particularly their "HijackThis" sub-forum at :
http://forums.maddoktor2.com/index.php?showforum=17 .
Thanks, y’all. (yeah, I’m in Georgia). My “good” computer crashed beyond repair. I now have a second hand replacement. For now, avast home and Ad-Aware SE is all I have. I will check out the aforementioned tools. I have rescanned everything and have had no adverse effects so far, but like y’all said, it won’t hurt to leave 'em there a tad longer. THANKS!
