- Virus Definitions are released lets say at 3AM but Avast 5 doesn’t get to them until about 4 hours later. Is that normal?
- Where can I see the latest Virus Release Definition Version number, date, and time?
You can manually download updates thru avast anytime you wish, or you can just let it auto update, and even set the time interval in minutes. See the settings/update for this.
Edit:
Added this link for you:
http://www.avast.com/virus-update-history
That will show you the virus def history updates.

sometimes, i reboot my PC, and virus definitions are updated after reboot, or i just manually update it. avast update interval is every four hours (the default setting)

In http://www.avast.com/virus-update-history just shows the date and the version, but not the time.
You can see the latest Virus Release Definition version number and the date/time by clicking on the avast UI > Maintenance > Update. It will give you the Current version number, Release Date, and number of definitions. You can also do a manual update from here as well as do a Program build update (5.0.545 is the latest build), however I usually let the automatic updates do their thing. Just make sure in Settings (upper right corner of the UI, that you have automatic updates set if this is what you want.
The minimum update intervals are:
- Free version: 120 minutes
- Paid versions: 15 minutes
