Avast pro seems to be causing bsod crashes on my system… It’s a newly installed copy of XP with Outpost firewall installed and VMAare workstation 5 along with the newest version of Avast pro.
Crashes occur randomly and are seemingly caused by an IRQ level in an unknown device driver according to the event log… I will include a minidump in hopes someone can help diag this. I like the product, but can’t handle the random crashes…
Isn’t there any more info about the error (just unknown device driver …)?
Please check the folder \data\log
Are there any files called unpXXXX there (where XXXX is a random number)?
If so, send them to vlk@avast.com
They may contain more information about the problem (maybe a link to this thread).
I’m using, Outpost Firewall Pro ver. 3.5.641.6214 (458) which is a couple of builds shy of the latest, currently waiting on the 4.0 release rather than take a minor build update. I haven’t experienced any problems re BSOD with this or any previous outpost versions.
I’m using avast home if that would make any difference and also not using any VMWare software.
