Newest avast! version conflicts with Norton AV but...

…I had uninstalled Norton Systemworks a long time ago! Plus, avast! had worked fine up until the last update. However, now avast has to disable all of it’s non-email services due to some conflict with Norton’s software.

Current avast! version:
Home (Free) edition 4.1.389

If you search the forums for Norton and my name you will find a lot of references to get rid from NAV.

Thank you Technical! Using the Rnav2003 program solved my problem.

Christopher, take a look into three Windows Registry keys (Regedit.exe):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers

Did you see C:.… path…\Symantec\S32EVNT1.DLL
If you are not sure working with Registry, please, ask for help here.
If you have this driver listed, you’re not free from Symantec :frowning:

Chris, please delete the following reg keys:

HEKY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NAVAP
HEKY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NAVAPEL

(if exist) and reboot the machine. That will solve the problem…

Thanks
