Newest Build - updates taking far too long

Hello…
I’ve been using Avast Free antivirus for a long time now wilthout problem.

Currently I’m on Program Version: 17.3.2291 (Build: 17.3.34430)

I prefer to update manually and have always done so, again with never a problem.

What I’m finding now is that Updating is taking a long time compared to before.

Also I note that at the 29% progress mark ‘Unknown Error’ notification shows for a short while and the progress seems to ‘hang’.
Finally, it does complete but…

I first tried repairing, then uninstalled completely and downloaded the newest version from Avast. Same result.

Looks like a bug in this new build…

Anyone having the same problem?

Did you use avastclear when removing avast and before installing it again ?

If so, provide more details like :
What exact OS/SP ?
Any other security (related) software installed ? (or was there in the past)
etc.
