So I’m probably missing a setting/or not.
Using ASB, When I visit a news website EX: msn or cnn and click to view a new video, the video sound is present but the viewing does not play. :-
No similar issue in FireFox
Edit:
I’ve also noticed if I use the ‘backspace’ key when using ASB, it does not work ( take me back to previous page).
No similar issue in FireFox
Yah I don’t know then, as I use only the 2 Browsers regularly: ASB and FF
And it doesn’t matter what News Website the videos aren’t playing for me.
I just assumed it was a security thing with ASB and all that was required would be to alter a ‘default’ setting or similar. Anyway whatever.
I tried your link Bob with FF no problem, When tried with ASB the video part freezes and only the audio is apparent.
Edit
I also can see the video and hear the sound. Youtube and other sites are working fine? Try to disable all extensions in the browser. If this does not help, you can uninstall Secure Browser and try to install it again, maybe it will help.
Clean install of the Secure Browser:
Maybe it’s time for a clean install of the Secure Browser
Download the installer from here, https://www.avast.com/en-us/secure-browser
Download the Secure Browser Removal tool from here, https://download.avastbrowser.com/avast_secure_browser_uninstall.exe
Save your Bookmarks via the Book Marks Manager if you have custom bookmarks so you can import them when you re-install.
Uninstall Secure Browser via Programs and Features - Reboot
Run the removal tool, reboot, run the installer import your favorites if you saved them.
A video to help with the installation: https://youtu.be/r_VLA0HMLQM
Report back if that’s solved the problem.
Thanks all
Will attempt suggestions when time allows.
The only extensions used in ASB are Malwarebyte Browser Extension and LastPass.
I’m fairly sure it’s a glitch in my configuration then, given you all have no issue.
Edit
I did a Reset to Default which illiminated both Extensions.
All seems to work just fine. I suspect it may have been (probably was) the Malwarebytes Browser Extension as I reinstalled Lastpass and all is still working fine with videos now, Not going to reinstall the Browser Ext at this point.
THanks again all
OK so I was curious and came across something of interest.
As I Reset ASB and found Videos played/showed properly afterwards with the 2 extensions illiminated in the Reset.
That’s fine, so I decided to go into ‘Security and Privacy Center’ to see what was enabled by default. I found many of the security options disabled.
So as a matter of interest I enabled one at a time and then attempted to watch same video. THe video played as expected for each option after enabled except when I enabled the “Ad Block” security option which then caused the video to hang and not play.
So all options are enabled except for AD Block and videos are playing as expected.
Unfortunately for me, I’m finding this browser a tad ‘quirky’ at best.
I did manage to get ASB to play videos properly on my HP Envy (newer LT) only after disabling Ad Block as I stated above.
However, on my HP Compaq (older LT) even a “clean install” right out of the box installation of ASB using Uninstall link as well via Bob’s post, and videos simply don’t function properly, no matter what I enable/or don’t enable from none to all independently, I can not get ASB to show the videos (only sound) on that Laptop. Both OS’s are, as signature will show, W10 Pro 64 Bit
Just one of those computer things that should work but for some unapparent reason doesn’t :-\
