Nirsoft Utilities

Hi, this ever lasting story about considering useful utilities as malware: will it end in near future? Meanwhile it becomes an first grade annoyance leading to less security, because it is necessary to disable the AV scanner to download Nirsoft utilities (e.g. via http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/nirlauncher.html ) >:( Or I’ll have to put my download- and temp- folder into the list of exceptions, which I do not want to do.

No, detection will not be removed since some of the tools are to be considered malware.

Hi, this ever lasting story about considering useful utilities as malware:
No it is NOT ... it is detected as Riskware because of what it can do

As it is with PUPs it is with Riskware. When you got it unknowingly it means a threat and should be flagged for what it is.
If you are very well aware of what it can do and calculate those risks in, make an exclusion for that detection.

Nir Sofer is an experienced and renowned Israeli top developer and at NirSoft we can find all of his tools. I also use various of his tools to keep the pulse of windows, his eventlog viewer is famous: http://www.nirsoft.net/about_nirsoft_freeware.html
