I completely uninstalled firefox yesterday version 54.0.1 64 bit , reinstalled l and now no avast online security in Firefox
Mozilla has changed the way it registers FireFox in the registry.
Could be you are facing the same problem as there is with avast passwords.
avast is already looking into it.
Thanks for that Eddy, very much appreciated
I just finished a clean install of Avast and opened Firefox for the first time since the Avast Free install.
As you can see, there shouldn’t be a problem adding AOS to Firefox

I have the same problem before, and i just reinstall addons in the settings>component as a temp fix.
I deleted it since your information was again incorrect.

This Module is either installed at which point you can uninstall it or, It was not installed in which case you can install it.
If it was installed, you can’t simple re-install it. Once installed, the next process happens in the Browser as reflected in the screenshots I posted.
avast says installed but not really present in my reinstalled firefox browser. (Im sure this is a bug, this is happening to me a lot when im reinstalling my browser. Im sure a lot of people notice it too.)
So i uninstall it and install it again. Works like a charm. Addon is back.
I know avast is broken sometimes.
You uninstall the Browser. You also remove all add-ons. It’s not Avast that’s broken.
Thanks for your assistance bob3160, very much appreciated
It worked, but surely Avast could come up with a easier way.
I uninstalled using uninstall in Win 10. Rebooted
Used avast clear in safe mode. Rebooted.
AVAST Antivirus Clear Uninstall was now an option in Boot menu, when booting up.
Removed using msconfig. Rebooted
Have rebooted 4 Times after reinstall and have been getting Firewall Turned off and settings on Public not private. Last boot did not appear, keep fingers crossed.
I have been using Avast now for 11 years, if I didn’t have nearly 2 years left on my 3 computers License, I would be uninstalling it for good.

Next time you need to do a clean install, just follow these directions:

Thanks bob3160
Have bookmarked web page.
Cheers
Been having problems all week with Firefox not responding for a few seconds when first opening and very slugish and AOS panel would be greyed out, removed AOS in extensions to test and was ok again, but couldn’t reinstall.
carried out a repair of Avast and AOS installation poped up ok and installed and Firefox seem to be really snappy again for now.
as mentioned by others there seems to be a bug that needs looking into.
There isn’t any bug. When you ran the repair, Avast again installed the “Security Browser Extension” that you had manually removed. The next time you opened your browser after the repair, you would have seen what I posted here: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=205062.msg1406397#msg1406397
I understand that Bob I have only had this problem with the latest release of Avast, that’s why I tried out the repair and so far so good,if not a bug something went wrong shortly after the latest Avast program update.
will see how it goes.
