No connectivity. Not a DNS problem

I recently installed Business Protection Plus on a Windows 2008 SBS environment. After I installed the admin. console and went to push the install to our workstations (running windows 7 and windows xp pro) the deployment repeatedly failed. So then I decided to try to manually install Business Protection Plus on the workstations manually. The console will only connect to ONE of the machines (being mine) but will not connect to the other 40. I looked over the settings of my machine compared to the others but I see no differences. Anything explaining this issue?

(I tried to push the install using the Domain Administrator)

Hi,
please give to us more info:
a) the version of console
b) the version of client program you’re trying to install
c) any other security software was uninstalled completely?
d) any firewall are blocking avast port?
e) have you tryed to reboot the clients pc and the server?

I suggest you to use only the deployment job to push installation to the clients.

Hello giogio,

A. The console version is 1.1.132.15
B. The version of client program that I am trying to install is 6.0.1373.
C. Yes all other security software has been completely uninstalled. (Before this we were using Avast!)
D. I’ve checked the firewall multiple times but avast ports are good to go.
E. I have tried rebooting the clients pc and the server but to no avail.

Also now that I think about it, each client PC has multiple IP addresses (2-3 per machine) if this would cause issues with Avast! ?

Probably Yes, can you ping without problem the pc from the server?
What do you mean for multiple IP? Do you have multiple network cards, or different IP on same network card?
You were using the ADNM before ABP?

Yes, I have no problem pinging the server. I have multiple IPs on the same card.
Yes.

Can I ask you why you have more than one Ip on the same network card?
Can you try to leave only one IP and see if you solve the problem ?

One is a private IP and the other is business oriented on most machines.
My machine (the only one that is recognized by the server) has 3 IP addresses.

Went through and change group policy settings as well as completely disabled the firewalls. I was then able to push the software onto clients but the license files would not carry over. The clients are running in trial mode and no network settings carried over.

Hi,
Is the license file license.avastlic stored correctly under
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Administration Console\license.avastlic
on you server?
The avast console recognize correctly your license?
Have you tryed to reboot the clients?

Something that may help those with connection issues between multiple sites/subnets. One of my customers had this happen this week and we found that the exemption rule in their firewall (Both on the SBC Server and on the clients) was set so that it applied to computers on the local subnet.

Their SBC server was 192.168.101.70 and could communicate fine with the whole 192.168.101.x subnet but had no communication to the 192.168.100.x subnet (Connected via MPLS). Changing the firewall exceptions on the SBC Server and on the clients via group policy for these exceptions to also include the 100.x subnet fixed their problem.

What all did you change? I am having the same issue, but i got the deployment to work on 23 of my 35 machines.
